Prior to its burning last year, the 1806 Alexis Cloutier / Kate Chopin House served as the Bayou Folk Museum and showcased the heritage of the lower Cane River region of west-central Louisiana. It is hopeful that perhaps the ruins of the house can be utilized in the future.
